"To those who can dream, there is no such place as faraway." -Rachel Ashwell
Welcome to the Meg Fish Photography blog! I am so glad you are here. This is a place for all things lovely, beautiful and inspiring... My vision is to photograph new mothers and their families in the most beautiful way I know, couture portraiture. This means a little more style, a little more fashion and a little more of my creativity to your bumps and babes... and a little more beauty to decorate your walls and nurseries. Here I share what I see, what inspires me and what I love and breathe each day. For more about me or to view my portfolio please visit my website! xoxo Meg

I think I want Children’s Book Month to last all year! This week is a very special book…Do you know what I love about ELOISE? Everything. I think I have read this book more times than all of my other books combined (including text books!). I am not sure who gave me this book but I am positive my parents thought I would be morally corrupted by her crazy authority free life! Well I turned out ok… but this is a MUST for any little girl’s book library. And be prepared to sing the song that Nanny sings, my mom always had to sing it! Oh, and “charge it please!”

When this beautiful mama started walking toward me with her hubby and two precious little ones I was enthralled already. There were so many gorgeous photographs I don’t even know where to start! Here are a few of my favorites… oh and this three week old baby boy was just peacefully asleep for most of the session. So rare! The newborn photos are just unbelievable. Ah…. Enjoy!

It’s Children’s Book month on my blog for March. Why? Because I LOVE children’s books! I can’t wait to read books to our little munch. Each week I will showcase one of my favorite children’s books, this week it is Blueberries for Sal, a classic. My mom loves blueberries, which is probably why she read this to me so much, but now it is a favorite. If you haven’t read it, grab a used copy on amazon an enjoy!
Also coming up this month is a GIVEAWAY, Workshop details and some great new resources for prego mamas!

Lately I have had a much needed break from sessions and have opted for dreaming about our new place! Between decorating ideas, experimenting with raw food cooking and yoga my mini vacation has been quite lovely! Here are some photos of our home that I love and want to continue in the new place.

This shot was taken during my last family session. It reminded me of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place. Even though we will be moving in a few weeks (only a few miles away, don’t fret!), Santa Barbara will always be the comfort of home. It’s so good to be thankful for these little glimpses of how we are so richly blessed!

I am finding that everyday clothes work well as maternity clothes (long tees and flowy tops) but when it comes to dressing up it is a CHALLENGE. I have many clients ask me where to shop for their maternity photo session and I am afraid I don’t have much to offer! I know the basics like Isabella Oliver, Designer Maternity, Target Maternity, Nordstrom Maternity, A Pea in the Pod and a few you may not know such as jessica iverson at maternity bride for gorgeous formals, Diane von Furstenberg’s stretch netting dresses and James Perse for yummy cotton dresses, shopstyle for variety of dresses, but rayon and satin just don’t seem to fit my photography style. I want earthy colors, long flowing dresses and skirts that are comfortable, possibly even cotton… are there any out there? Can they hear me? If you know of great place for maternity gowns or even just apparel that works for maternity please leave a comment or e-mail me!! In the meantime I will keep searching…
